About

Behind the seams...

What we stand for: Luxury and Modesty.

The Style Underground is a handmade accessories line that creates luxury headscarves and scarf-tying video tutorials. Our goal is to design fashion-forward headscarves that are easy to tie and slip resistant, then teach you how to rock them.

I started this business in 2009 after studying at Parsons School of Design as a fashion major. I had just gotten married and started covering my hair, but couldn't wrap my head around the cheap, mass-produced cheap rags widely available online. For the first year, I started out by making our signature cotton-lined headscarves and braid hats by hand in our tiny New Jersey apartment. They quickly found a following, and requests for scarf-styling tutorials began pouring in.

Less than two years later, the scarves are carefully constructed by hand in our studio and in a local couture dressmaking atelier. We pay very close attention to detail, and use the finest fabrics and professional equipment.

What's next? Our book and DVD set is set to debut this winter. It will have video tutorials and full-color illustrations, and offer genius solutions for slip prevention, scarf storage, formal occasions, athletics, motherhood, and more.

Our chic fans and customers are enthusiastic about covering their hair with style. If you have any questions about wrapping a headscarf, or need some advice, just post on our Facebook fan page and you'll get plenty of responses!

Thanks for stopping by,
Julie
