We all love to admire designer creations.
Skimming runway fashions, flipping past fine jewelry advertisements, and gazing at the windows of luxury department stores.
For many of us, myself included, the connection stops there.
I am not interested in the designer price tag, nor the upkeep, nor the upset feelings if something is lost or stolen.
Enter the simple DIY project.
Today's is a pearl coronet, inspired by this dazzling $950 Jennifer Behr headpiece. (The ones pictured below are from the same collection.)
I had a creative itch to recreate the tiara-like coronet, but with my own artistic spin. So I ordered beads and wire from my favorite online jewelry store, and fell to work.
Don't worry, I filmed the process to share with you.
Watch the 2-minute tutorial below. Below it, you'll find links to the materials used.

Materials
Brown cultured pearl beads
(lighter color pearls would look lovely also)
Heavier wire for the base (you can find gold, silver, and copper here)

The design process!
I found it was helpful to create a drawing of the headpiece before I started working with wire and beads.
To get a sense of the dimensions I wanted for the base, I draped a flexible measuring tape over my head.
The Jennifer Behr coronet that inspired this projected featured gold wire and white pearls.
However, I wanted my piece to be monochromatic. Brown is one of my favorite colors, especially to wear around my face.
I added elastic ties to keep the coronet comfortably in place. They are especially useful when wearing the coronet over a headscarf or turban hat.
The head is simply the best place to adorn oneself, is it not?
