Diana, the huntress. Who knows for sure what qualities the ancients attributed to this 'goddess' of hunting.

I think of today's huntress as an optimistic woman who pursues her creative aspirations. She may also be known to hunt bargains in her natural habitat, the consignment store.

The Head Scarf

I recently discovered the Amazon brand Melifluos, which is designed in Spain. The charming woodsy print and neutral colors on this scarf drew me in.

It's made of rayon from bamboo, and measures 36"x72": perfect for a head scarf. It arrived quickly even in the midst of the holiday shipping frenzy.

The scarf-tying video

Above, I demo two scarf-tying techniques for this look. The first is my personal favorite, the Double Wrap, which you can watch on the tutorials page. The second begins with in a similar way, but leaves both tails draped loose.

For extra volume, I tied the scarf with two volumizer caps underneath: this pleated one and this ruched cap.

The Head Scarf Outfit

In keeping with the outdoorsy woodland theme, I've styled the head scarf with an earth-toned outfit.

The faux fur shawl collar on this Charlie & Robin cardigan is detachable. For maximum impact, I've left it on. I did indeed hunt this cardigan at a consignment store.

The scarf's blue-gray background and walnut-beige leaf details remind me of autumn and winter. Yet it would look pretty in any season. I'm seeing it on a rainy day with thunderstorms in springtime, or in the languid summer heat.

The jewelry

Every goddess needs some gems. The leverback earrings are by Amazon Collection, which I love for its ease of returns if the jewelry is not as imagined.

I did think the earrings' stones would be bigger, but decided to keep them for everyday wear. I'll save my larger, louder baubles for special occasions. You can find a necklace similar to the one in the photos here.

The shoes

I've finished the look with gilded leather ballet flats by Vionic. You can also find a similar, pointed toe pair here.

In cool weather, I think adventurously fringed Minnetonka boots would round out the huntress theme beautifully.
