Black and green: headwear, scarf, and outfit
This simple outfit was inspired by Claude Monet's impressionist "Flowers" painting below. The artwork's warmth and sense of movement are captivating.
The painting's earthy colors, both the light and deep shades, are echoed in the dress and accessories.
The painting's flowers and leaves suggest a mix of surfaces. The outfit mimics this with a variety of textures. It includes corduroy, fuzzy ribbing, smooth satin, and perforated leather.

The olive green scarf is by Iristide. It's made of a lightweight rayon, with fringe on the short edges. Scroll down to see it styled as a neck scarf.

For contrast and slip-proofing, I'm wearing a black jersey headband by Funny Girl Designs underneath the scarf. Their headbands are made of a smooth, durable cotton-spandex, and have lasted me for years. They fit both women and girls comfortably.

The newsboy cap

This olive green hat mimics the tone and texture of the painting's velvet-looking leaves. It also matches the green scarf beautifully.
The cap is made of 100% cotton corduroy, with a breathable lining. It has a roomy fit around the crown, a stretchy back elastic, and a feminine brim shape. As far as newsboy caps go, this one's hard to beat.

To reign in stray hairs, I'm wearing a gray cotton-spandex cap underneath. It's comes in a pair, along with black.
The sweater dress

This little black dress is also a cozy black dress. It's made of a ribbed recycled-polyester sweater knit by A New Day. This Target brand a track record of impressive, affordable knitwear.
The dress comes in sizes XS-4X, and is also available in light blue. Bonus that it's machine washable.
For reference, I am 5'4". The size small I'm wearing measures 46" long.
The black satin sash ties the look together.
